What are the children learning about this term?

This term we are learning about the stories of Jesus in the gospels.

How are the children learning about these stories?

In our children & families ministry we try to get a good mix of learning about God and about Bible stories, and applying our faith to everyday life. With each story we’re thinking about what it tells us about God, and what that means for us. We learn through lots of different activities, including games, crafts, chat, and mess!

How can I continue helping my child to learn about Jesus at home?

There’s lots of resources online with ideas for activities and conversations with your child. These include:

Most importantly, you can chat honestly with your child about God. When you read a Bible passage, you could ask yourselves:

  • Do you like this passage? Why/ why not?
  • What’s your favourite thing about this passage?
  • What do you learn about God from this passage?
  • What do you learn about yourself from this passage?

You can practise praying with your child – it doesn’t have to be anything fancy! Try talking out loud to God with your child, and encouraging them to do the same. There’s more ideas on nurturing faith at home here.

Where can I learn more?

There’s loads of interesting stuff online – for example, check out www.gotquestions.org and www.odb.org.

Best of all – go straight to the source! The best place to learn about God is from God. We can do this by reading the Bible, praying and talking to God, spending time just listening to God, and by talking to people who know God too.
